Tips to Sell More Retail this Holiday Season

Selling retail products should always be a priority in your business but it’s even more important during the holiday season! If you are like most beauty professionals, you are probably seeing more clients than ever during this time … this give you a great opportunity to increase your bottom line without spending more time in the salon.

  1. Sell Products as Gift Sets
Packaging and advertising your products as gift sets is a great way to increase your retail sales. You can actually make your own gift sets out of individual products that you have around the salon by bundling them together in a nice box with a bow or purchase pre-packaged gift sets from your beauty supply distributors.

  2. Sell your Clients a Solution
Offer your clients a solution to their problem, do not just sell them something to make money. For example, if your client is complaining about their hair being thin or dry.. offer them a solution to their problem through a product that will help them. Offering customized recommendations to your clients based on their needs is always the best way to not only increase your retail sales, but also build trust with them so they will continue to purchase from you. This tip is not just for the holidays, it is something you should practice year round.

  3. Decorate your Salon with Retail
Draw attention to your retail products with some festive décor! Add some lights or garland around your product displays to bring more attention to them. Make sure to put up signage to call out any holiday retail specials you have and place them within your client’s view.

  4. Time Sensitive Holiday Specials
Offer special deals on products when purchased with specific services that are popular around the holidays. For example, if deep conditioning treatments or blow outs are a common service you provide, offer a discounted take-home conditioning treatment or leave-in spray to continue the results at home. Get creative in naming these specials like a “Winter Hair Self-Care Special” or a “Holiday Blow Out Special” so that they realize these are seasonal, and therefore time-sensitive, offers.

Now get out there and make the most of the busiest time of the year!
